Turning The Inspiration Of One Hour Into The Actions Of Every Hour

DTZ, Jones Lang LaSalle, Knight Frank, Skanska and Stena Recycling gather together and speak as one during the action organized in the occasion of  Earth Hour – the event founded by WWF.

Earth Hour, the largest environmental action in human history, is the initiative aimed on gathering hundreds of millions of people across the globe who will switch off the lights of homes and businesses for one hour. The Earth Hour will take place at 8.30 p.m. on Saturday 23rd and it will be the symbolic start of the action.

As a part of initiative DTZ, Jones Lang LaSalle, Knight Frank, Skanska and Stena Recycling  - are also planning to collect Five Tons of Electro Waste (electrical and electronic equipment waste) by inviting their employees, clients and business partners to participate in the action by signing up on:

Electro (E)-waste is still the fastest growing waste stream.  The reason for this is the continuous development of technology and the need to replace the old / used equipment with a new one. E-waste contains large amounts of lead in electronics causing damage to all organisms.

Each year:

  • 20 to 50 million metric tons of e-waste are disposed worldwide.
  • Only 12.5 percent of e-waste is currently recycled.
  • E-waste represents 2 percent of trash in landfills, but it equals 70 percent of overall toxic waste.
