Robert Sztemberg joins JLL Polish office to head Corporate Finance Department

The company is further developing its expertise in the area of debt advisory and strategic consulting on financing issues for commercial real estate clients and banks

Warsaw, 10 March 2014 - JLL is pleased to announce that Robert Sztemberg has joined the company in Poland as Head of Corporate Finance Department.
Corporate Finance Department provides strategic advisory services in the field of financing for companies and corporate clients operating in commercial real estate markets, focusing on Poland but planned to be active in the wider CEE region. The team led by Robert Sztemberg will focus its efforts on the debt market, including debt financing and debt refinancing for both investors and developers. The team will also act on behalf of and provide consulting services for banking entities.

For the previous 2 years, Robert Sztemberg had worked for ECE and was responsible for ECE’s development and investment transactions in Poland – he was working on new development projects and extensions of existing shopping centres from the ECE portfolio (e.g. Galeria Bałtycka), and on identifying new investment opportunities and negotiating investment transactions on behalf of ECE.

Robert Sztemberg gained long term experience with regards to the debt financial markets, most notably in the banking sector of Germany, but also in the CEE region and Russia. Between 2009 and 2012 Robert worked at HSH Nordbank AG's head office in Hamburg, and co-headed the sales activities of HSH Real Estate Department. He was also the head of the company's International Key Account Management, responsible for relations with key clients from the real estate sector. Before this, he was the head of HSH Nordbank's Representative Offices in Poland (Warsaw, 2002-2009), and Russia (Moscow, 2007-2009). Robert holds a degree in Business Administration from the Polytechnic in Konstanz.

Tomasz Trzoslo, Managing Director of JLL in Poland, commented: “I am very happy Robert Sztemberg agreed to join us and head the Corporate Finance activity of JLL in Poland. Robert’s experience in the banking sector is invaluable and it will excellently contribute to the skills within JLL’s Corporate Finance Department in Poland. In the light of the changes in the debt markets, impact of which can be easily seen across the entire CEE, Robert’s in-depth knowledge and understanding of the unique characteristics of the debt markets, and the banks themselves, should be of a great value to JLL’s clients, and we are looking to increase our activity in the debt advisory field to help and assist our clients better. Appointing Robert as Head of the Corporate Finance team in Poland is a part of our strategy to develop best in class competence in the field of capital markets – and the corporate finance advisory is an important part of capital markets quality service which we intend to provide to our clients and for which we do see a need in the market.”

Robert Sztemberg, Head of Corporate Finance, JLL Poland, added: “Changes in the financial market after 2009 have made it necessary for investors and developers to adopt a new approach and look for new solutions. A more cautious investment financing policy, along with increasing administrative requirements, have resulted in the development of specialised advisory services in the field of financing for new projects, and we are looking to provide such specialised debt advisory services to developers and investors, and also banks."
